Ruby has worked as a wardrobe stylist for Nordstrom; a set and backdrop designer for local theatres; and a craft designer for a craft supply chain. But it wasn't until she committed herself to her lifelong dream of being a writer and illustrator of children’s books that she knew she'd found her true calling.

Having studied Industrial Graphology (handwriting analysis), she's discovered that her line work comes alive when she draws at the same rate of speed, pressure, and intentionality as her handwriting.

She is currently working on an illustrated picture book about the Hubble telescope; and a YA novel about a medieval princess who decides to slay the dragon herself. Ruby won a 2011 SCBWI Most Promising Work-In-Progress award for the proposed novel.

Ruby lives with her husband and two daughters in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. When not working in her art studio, she enjoys reading (fave: Middlemarch by George Elliott); classic film (The African Queen); travel (Japan); museums (The Chicago Field Museum); and eating anything made with coconut (coconut cream pie.)
